They are new parents.

Mirenuth and Seth are a mated pair of silvers, young adults. This egg was going to be their first child (they think it's a girl), but it was stolen by nasty green dragon bitch, who the party mightily slew. Mir and Seth live in a very nice castle fortress on the Plane of Air, and among other things have a lovely library.
