The as-yet-unnamed SG will be hero side on Virtue. This is a place for brainstorming and planning and so forth.

Other City of Heroes players should feel free to add stuff to this page! :) --Rykilde 23:56, 17 August 2007 (EST)

Nameless SuperGroup

Name Suggestions

(someone add something here because I am flummoxed! --Rykilde 23:56, 17 August 2007 (EST))

Purposes

There are three purposes.

  1. Create a group for character development through interaction with other roleplayers. This is the central purpose of the SG.
    • Advancing personal plot by saying one day, "Hey guys I ascended and became Celestial lookit mah new wings!" is not that satisfying.Building up a storyline wherein you have greater and greater contact with something angelic, then some thingie happens, and then you add wings to your costume as an outward sign of in-game rp... much better.
    • Guess which one is most prevalent in CoH unless you have a group of dedicated roleplayers? Exactly.
    • And anyway, roleplaying is good clean fun. Except if you're in Pocket D at 3am... *shudder*
  2. Provide a pool of players for doing badge misisons, taskforces, tough missions, story arcs, trials, etc.
    • Everyone getting more accomplishments = yay!
  3. Make it more likely that when a given player signs on, they will have someone they know to team with.
    • Knowing your teammates means more efficient play means more levels and completed missions.
    • Always fun to talk with knowledgeable people abotu game mechanics and gameplay.
    • Good ol' social interaction!

Although 1 is the most important to this SG, 2 and 3 are of course also vital to the prosperity of any SuperGroup. Or Guild, linkshell, whathaveyou. But we know this already. --Rykilde 23:56, 17 August 2007 (EST)

Theme

  • Base.
    • Futuristic gleaming scifi. I'm thinking along the lines of the Watchtower or the X-Men's base, here, not so much the BatCave.
    • Good Night's Sleep has already established that her father is a retired tech-based superhero. She will be starting up the group in her dad's old base, newly refurbished with the influence she herself has made as a heroine.
  • Character.
    • GNS wants to expand her power and understand what's happening to her since her mutation asserted itself. She'll be bringing on other heroes who are themselves uncertain about the path their powers have put them on. In-game this means the SG will always be on the lookout for information and knowledge... and fighting badguys along the way.
    • The SG will be essentially optimistic and exploratory in nature... though darker themes are welcomed.
      • Dramallamas will not, however, be tolerated.

Possible Motto Thingies

  • Triumph without trial is a victory without meaning. --Rykilde 23:56, 17 August 2007 (EST)
  • Growth through struggle. --Rykilde 23:56, 17 August 2007 (EST)

It is a proven fact that bad ideas occur more often than good ideas. Here are some...

Bad SuperGroup Ideas

Bad SuperGroup Concepts

  • D.U.I. - Defending Under the Influence
    • An all/mostly Defender SG composed of squishy healers, buffers, and debuffers who like to take dirtnaps.
  • Tank SMASH!
    • Q.E.D.
      • I mean, good tanks aren't actually that common... think how bad this could go, how fast.
  • Buffybots
    • Generic'ed faster than JewBakeOven. But hawt.
  • Nerds United
    • Wherein players make their avatars look as much like them in real life as possible, and then give themselves whatever damn powers they feel like.
      • Drawbacks:
        1. Sketchiest-looking SG on the server.
        2. That much Mary-Sue in one place might conceivably collapse the space-time of the gameworld.

Bad SuperGroup Mottoes

  • For Truth! Justice! And XP! --Rykilde 23:56, 17 August 2007 (EST)
