			Nightmares can be destroyed physically but they will reconstitute in a few weeks. They can be permanently destroyed with intense positive emotions. Hope, love and the like will starve a Nightmare and banish it permanently.

These creatures are very rare and tend to stay in low-populated regions. The best explanation is that they are born of intense hatred from small groups of people. A village curse or superstition could bear a Nightmare. So could intense greed and envy among miners. A Nightmare does not travel from its birthplace.
