The Story So Far...

Merki's final mission ended in the Draugh kingdom, where he was considered the enemy of the kingdom.

His ally, Agent Midnight, helped him discover some thing that helped them discover some kind of evil influence.

She will help the party locate the resource in his stead, but first they will locate and shut down a Magmere base, about three days out of the capital.

Summary

May 31, 1236 AD

Realtime: Oct 21, 2015-Oct 25, 2015

The party wakes up and finds instructions directing them to the Worker's Home district. Vegeta and Nidri buy a wand to help them swim, just in case they need to cross a river. Soon after breakfast, the feeling of dread and paranoia acts up again. Agent Midnight meets them in the neighborhood and offers them some camels for travel. So also seems keen on learning what everyone's favorite tea flavor is.

June 1, 1236 AD

Realtime: Oct 25, 2015-Nov 1, 2015

The party camps overnight in the desert outside of the capital. In the middle of the night, Hawk and Claire hear the sounds of people skating across the battlefield. By the time Claire wakes everyone up, the ice-based creature named Circe arrives to collect her bounty!

Agent Midnight's weapon jams and she isn't able to contribute much to the combat until Nidri fixes it. Fi gets an idea and hacks into Circe with a Sendrine blade. The weapon almost breaks and it doesn't seem to do much more significant damage than usual. Claire's fiery response earns her Circe's icy attention. The party is eventually able to defeat her, though, by smashing her six simulacrum and knocking her out.

Agent Midnight explains Circe is a compulsive gambler who loves games and moonlights as a bounty hunter to pay down her massive debt. As Agent Midnight restrains Circe, Fi thinks up an entertaining method of interrogation: Flip a coin. If she gets heads, she must answer a question. If she gets tails, she gets a point. Five points and she is freed.

Luck smiles upon Circe as she only has to answer one question. Vegeta's diplomacy squeezes one more question out of her, though. In the end, General Joaan is after Agent Midnight, the party, and Giovanni Vermillion - all preferred alive rather than dead. Agent Midnight is glad some suspicion has finally befell the president of Magmere Manufacturing. After the quesitions, Circe slips free from her bonds and skates off into the night.

Agent Midnight spends her watch with Vegeta, bothering him with all sorts of tea flavors before she finally gives up and hands him hot water. Luckily the rest of the night is quiet.

June 2, 1236 AD

Realtime: Nov 3, 2015-Nov 8, 2015

The party gears up for another day of travel. Agent Midnight suspects they'll reach the Magmere factory by tomorrow morning.

After lunch, Agent Midnight reveals some folding boats that can fit 3 people to a ship. She suggests the party splits itself up amongst the three ships to cross the river. Vegeta is left on his lonesome while Fi and Agent Midnight lead the other ships.

As they depart, a whirlpool appears and the river seemingly comes to life. Fi and Agent Midnight's sailing expertise quickly guide them through the river. Which is good, because Vegeta swears he saw something in the river pulling his ship towards it. He swears he saw something swim away as soon as the party was secure on shore.

Agent Midnight proposes an assault against Magmere, and the party quickly decides on a frontal assault. Midnight starts the assault during a guard shift, and the Magmere Guards are caught off guard.

At the Magmere Factory

Realtime: Nov 9, 2015 - Nov 29, 2015 The party reaches the Magmere Processing Plant. They sneak past many metal golems and Magmere employees on their way to the front gate. The guard seems to be at the end of their shift. Using the element of surprise, the party ambushes the guard and their golem beetle and eagle.

Realtime: Nov 30, 2015 - Dec 13, 2015 After defeating the guards, the party notices few Magmere employees are actually paying attention to them. Most are fleeing the plant, taking sensitive data and whatever parts they can with them. Agent Midnight presses on to the Factory Executive Suite. It seems more like a lab than a business office. Pylons crackle with energy and behind a metal barrier stands the boss, draining energy from a Big Blue Beetle construct. Reluctantly guarding the boss is a large walrus-type golem who starts breathing ice. Midnight recognizes the beetle immediately and runs off to save him, while the party deals with the frost-breathing walrus.

The party manages to defeat the walrus, the factory boss, and frees the robot beetle. He's glad to be free, but warns that there is a larger problem: The Imperial Army is on the way. Agent Midnight offers to distract the army and give the team the time they need to reach their destination. She hands a map and a crystal, saying they should use it when they reach the destination.

The Imperial Army is distracted fighting the Magmere Remnants and chasing "The Agent", giving the party plenty of time to slip through unnoticed and undetected.

Circe's Interrogation

On June 1, 1236 AD, the party captured then interrogated the ice entity known as Circe. She agreed to keep answering questions until they flipped a coin that landed on tails 5 times.

1 Tails

  • Who put out the bounty?

Duh, General Joann. Talks big, but this kingdom has all sorts of lawbreakers.

2 Tails
3 Tails
4 Tails
5 Tails

  • For who?

Now now, I won fair and square. But, just to show there are no hard feelings...

General Joann has a general bounty on Agent Midnight. HOWEVER! He put a bounty out for you guys last morning. He...also put a bounty out on Giovanni Vermillion. I took my chances. I figured you would be easier to capture, but meh.

Unanswered Questions

  • Was the bounty communicated directly to her, or "public"...meaning more people will come after us?
  • How much is the bounty.... mainly to see if it's high, then likely higher level hunters after us.
