The Book of Pussich: Chapter 2

Looking For The Skis

We travelled northward for a while looking for some kind of "skis." We found a structure of two large stone obelisks forming a giant X on top of a mountain. We camped out a little ways off away from a clearing, watching the skis in hope of finding some more insight into our quest. We spotted shapes flitting above the skis--quite a few of them, actually. They turned out to be dragons, who were in the process of mating. We observed them at what we thought was a safe distance. We spotted a few more dragons flying toward the mating area, then one of the dragons fell from the sky. Three new dragons flew down to the nearby clearing and promptly disappeared.

At that point, the group started debating the feasability of leaving or finding out what occurred. The choice was promptly made for us by Iam, who ran into the clearing to find the dragons. Alekzie pulled up the hood of her elven cloak and ran after Iam, who had found three a man and two women all wearing armor. She brought them back to the rest of the group. The man in the gold armor conversed with us while the females, one in gold and one in silver armor, stood silently behind him. It appeared that the women were conversing silently with the man. The male looked at the silver armored female and told her to speak her mind. The woman in silver armor got spooked by something after some conversation and ran off. Then the man looked more concerned and took off after his fleeing companion. We were warned earlier by the people to leave and we took their advice. We headed north and made camp for the night.

Displacer beating

During the night, we were attacked by large feline creatures with strange tentacles rising from their backs. Astrix woke us from our slumber with a shout and promply attacked the group of beasts. The rest of the group joined the fray shortly after being woken up. The beasts were difficult to hit but we managed to defeat them all and decided to keep their corpses to see if we could have cloaks made of their hides. We kept the creatures' corpses from rotting with a few herbs and went back to sleep for the night.

Cloak Making 101

We travelled for most of the day and encountered a group of armored riders who rode past us eastward. We then made camp and Nigel healed Iam. The riders from before approached us later that morning. Gwen awakened Nigel and Astrix, who conversed briefly with the men. They attempted to get us to give them money so they could enter a fashion/dance contest. We totally bewildered the would-be thieves by taking up a collection in one gentleman's hat. They happily rode off with our loose change.

That morning, we had the best breakfast that Elly had ever cooked. The group continued travelling and finally reached the city about noon. We all headed to the mage's guild, except for Alekzie, who went to the tavern to arrange for rooms. We attempted to have the guild make cloaks out of the displacer beast skins and found out it would take quite a long time per cloak. We also discovered we did not have enough money to pay for all the enchanting, so we sold two of the skins to the guild in order to have 3 cloaks made. We brought the skins over to the leatherworkers ,and arranged with the guildmaster to have them all tanned. The guildmaster was excited about working on displacer hide and offered to do the tanning for a minimal fee. Afterwards, we headed to the seamstress' guild to be measured for our cloaks. The seamstress guild agreed to make the cloaks, which would take three weeks. The group paid the guild a small fee and decided to add some spiffy designs to the cloaks and informed them that we would be back in a few days to tell them what we want on our cloaks.

Ol' Pointy Head

The group then headed back to the mage's guild. During that time Alekzie went to her temple and then to find a place to gather acorns for her squirrels and herself--for snacking purposes. Nigel and Astrix went out preaching in the name of Pussich. Gwen went off to have her gems appraised. Alekzie, after gathering acorns, headed back to the tavern to prepare them. Nigel attracted a few people to Pussich's graces and then returned to the tavern. Elly attempted to identify some of the items that Gwen had and everyone gathered at the tavern for the night.

Just then, a strange-looking man with a pointy head entered the tavern. He wore strange armor and had no visible weapons. Iam went and pestered the stranger a little and got kicked for his trouble. The man's drink spoiled strangely and inexplicably, and he then ordered another. After the drink, he rented a room and headed upstairs. The group lounged around and drank wine then eventually headed up to bed.

Familiar, Elly?

The next morning, the party prepared to leave and Elly asked us to allow her the time to summon a familiar. Before leaving, we gave the seamstresses our design patterns for the cloaks currently in the works. Gwen handed out some gems to other members of the party and then went to get a potion identified by the mage's guild. After that, we left town and headed east. We made camp for the night after an uneventful journey, and Astrix had another encounter with the stray dog that seemed to be following him.

That morning, the group met the stray sleeping under the cart. Iam attempted to pet the dog but it growled at him. He then attempted to pet it again, and someone cast a spell on him that froze him in his tracks. Asterix fed the dog, and we travelled to a clearing in the woods and Elly began summoning her familiar. The next day, the group is introduced to a giant talking owl, Aremis, who was summoned by Elly's find familiar spell. We stayed late to wait for the exhausted Elly to wake up. Once she did, we travelled for the rest of the day. We arrived at the point where we turned south to go to the skis, and there we headed north to find the location from which the metal giants appeared.
