This is the super-duper all-inclusive list of my classical music collection. It's really not much of a collection (yet!) but I am working on it. If you came here from my wish list, scroll down to the "Most Wanted" section at the bottom!

Music I already have

This is a listing of the classical music I already have on CD. It is broken down by piece rather than CD. I don't object to having duplicates of some pieces (by different artists) if there are other things on the CD, so I have included which artists as well where possible.

  • Bach: Sonatas and Partitas for Violin (Arthur Grumiaux)
  • Beethoven: Choral Fantasy (Zubin Mehta, New York Philharmonic)
  • Beethoven: Kreutzer Sonata (Itzhak Perlman and Vladimir Ashkenazy)
  • Beethoven: Piano Concertos 1-5 (Emanuel Ax, Andre Previn, Royal Philharmonic)
  • Beethoven: Spring Sonata (Itzhak Perlman and Vladimir Ashkenazy)
  • Holst: The planets (Leonard Slatkin, Philharmonia Orchestra)
  • Lalo: Symphonie Espagnole (Itzhak Perlman, Daniel Barenboim, Orchestre de Paris)
  • Mozart: Amadeus soundtrack
  • Rachmaninov: Piano Concertos 1 and 2. (need to look this up when I'm home, pretty sure it's Krystian Zimmerman or however you spell it.)
  • Saint-Saens: Violin Concerto No. 3 (Itzhak Perlman, Daniel Barenboim, Orchestre de Paris)
  • Shostakovitch: String quartets 6-8 (The Manhattan String Quartet)
  • Sibelius: Violin Concerto (Leonidas Kavakos, Osmo Vänskä, Lahti Symphony Orchestra)
  • Varese: Arcana (Leonard Slatkin, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Most Wanted

This is the list of my current most-coveted additions to the above collection. You may generally notice a pattern of style and instrumentation. My dad would also have good suggestions.

  • Beethoven - piano sonatas
  • Chopin - preludes/etudes/nocturnes
  • Faure - requiem
  • Mendelssohn - violin concerto
  • Mozart - string quartets
  • Mozart - Don Giovanni
  • Mozart - Magic Flute
  • Rachmaninov - piano concertos (I think I'm missing at least one)
  • Shostakovitch - the rest of the string quartets collection by the Manhattan String Quartet. (The disc I have with 6-8 is volume 3 of the complete collection.)
  • Stravinsky - Firebird suite
  • Tchaikovsky - symphonies
  • Tchaikovsky - violin concerto
  • Vivaldi - Four Seasons
  • Wagner - The Ring Cycle
