Talk:Beer

My Dad used to call his beer "Tree Frog". Since my beer is based on his recipes, only lighter than his, I'm trying to come up with a name for it that more or less matches this theme. Cat has suggested "Flying Squirrel", but I'm not sure that really fits. Given that it's being produced out of UCSouth, I'm pondering something based on that. Ideas? -Morrigu 10:47, 6 November 2009 (EST)

We now have a name after a silly conversation in the car last night. -Morrigu 08:56, 31 December 2009 (EST)

Having run only 4 batches of beer, I've already decided I don't like safbrew yeast. Of the beer I've brewed, batches 1, 3, and 4 have used safbrew yeast. Batch 1 had a strong almost antiseptic flavor that I originally thought was from the particular strain of yeast. Having now opened and tried a few bottles of batch 4, and finding that it has the same flavor, though not as strongly, I'm going to stop using that particular brand. It's somewhat annoying, because the guys at the brew store highly recommend it. It's true that the dry yeast is far cheaper, but the white labs liquid yeast that I used gave the ale I made a wonderful flavor, so that'll be the brand to go with from now on, at least for beer. I'll have to play around with mead a bit to find the right yeast. Speaking of which, it's time for me to hit the brew store. Probably Friday.  :) -Morrigu 10:52, 20 January 2010 (EST)

Looking for artistic types

To all of my artistically inclined friends, or at least those who know about the UC wiki, I'm looking for some logo art for Dizzy Lizard labels. Black and white for preference, but art style can be anything. Color would be ok, but less ideal, since it's more expensive to get the color labels printed. Feel free to pass this along if you think there's someone else out there who would be interested. This is totally for fun, but the winning design will wind up on my home brew bottles of beer and mead, and anything else I wind up brewing (For some reason I'm now pondering adding wine to the list). -Morrigu 09:28, 16 April 2010 (EST)
